Dear colleagues:
In anticipation for the centennial celebration of the Korean immigration to Hawaii (January 2003), I am planning to organize an academic conference on "Koreans in Hawaii" to be held at the Center for Korean Studies (CKS), University of Hawaii, pending CKS approval. The proposed date for the conference is (tentatively) January 14-15, 2000.
I hereby invites scholars to submit proposals on the papers to be presented at the conference. A study on any aspect of the Koreans in Hawaii, including history, politics, society, religion, and arts, is welcome. It is hoped that the papers presented at the conference will be put together for publication in a book form, following revision based on discussion and other interactions.
Those scholars who will participate at the conference for the presentation of papers will be remunerated for their transporation (to and from Honolulu) plus food and lodging for the duration of the conference.
Please submit your proposal to me at the address below. Any inquiry on the proposed conference should also be directed to me.
