CALL FOR PAPERS
The First Biennial Conference will be held by Korean Studies Association of
Australasia at the University of New South Wales, Sydney Australia, during
27-28 September 1999.
KSAA welcomes research papers in any field related to Korean studies. The
papers in the competitive sessions will be selected through a double blind
refereeing process. Sessions will be organised in the areas of Literature,
Linguistics, Language Education, History, Religion, Sociology, Women's
studies, Politics, Economics, Business & Management, and Media &
Communication. Papers from other areas are also welcome and a separate
session may be formed depending on the number of selected papers in each area.
A PhD dissertation session is also being organised to provide PhD candidates
in Korean studies with an opportunity to present their research findings and
to receive feedback and comments from the experts in the field.
KSAA is trying to provide some financial assistance toward the travel
expenses for those who will present a paper at the conference. For this
purpose, applications for grants have been made at various institutions,
including the Korea Research Foundation and the Australia-Korea Foundation.
The details of the financial assistance will be determined later, depending
on the number of papers and the amount of the grant available.
Scholars who wish to submit a paper should forward an abstract to the
Conference chairman by 25 April 1999. The abstract should be not longer
than 300 words, and should have a separate title page and a bibliography.
The name, affiliation and address of the authors should appear only on the
title page. Both on the title page and on the abstract, the author should
specify the session in which the paper should be placed. Submissions by
email are also accepted.
