[KS] Korean traditional archery competitions

Just a couple notes about events happening in Korea this month and next
month.

This weekend will be the annual Korean traditional archery festival at the
Korea Military Academy, located near Taereung (Hwarang Dae).  The
competition will be this Sat, Sun, and Mon.  Besides the competition itself,
they usually have demonstrations by the Korean mounted martial arts team and
also demos of traditional equipment, including crossbows, fire arrows,
rocket arrows, and 'missiles' (logs with fins that are shot out of a
cannon).  The KMA cadets put on a marching spectacle, too.

On Sept. 22-24 will be held the 2nd Kyongju World Culture Festival Archery
Competition.  Please come and visit (if you're an archer, please contact me
and join in!).
