[KS] spiritual flame mark

Dear list members:

I am working on a Korean monk portrait, 10th century.
The figure has a tiny depression (they call a hole) in the chest,
supposedly the mark of burning of the spiritual flames of Hwaom. 
Do you know of any similar examples in Chinese or Japanese
statues, legends, or where should I look for? Is there any ethinic
people with such physical marks in the world?
