I think it probably was OB with its German connections which was behind
it, but "Hof" first emerged in the 80's as second part of the names of
pubs with German names and German-style interiors (before hybrids like
"AriranghopÚ" appeared on the scene) and it was in this way that the hof
became known in Korea.

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Korea's biggest brewery (now
Belgian?)
OB, Oriental Brewery, learn the trade from German brewery Loewenbrau?
Hence, German word "Gasthof" (pub) entered the Korean Language and was
shortened into "hof".
