Please join us in Milwaukee or Chicago for two upcoming
event-series honoring the distinguished Korean
director Bae Chang-Ho during his visit to the area. 

I. MILWAUKEE
The Korean Film Weekend at UW-Milwaukee (April 18-21)

A ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: THE NEW KOREAN CINEMA
A conversation with Director Bae Chang-Ho and visiting
panelists:
-Michael Shin, Professor of Asian Studies (Cornell
University) “Literary Adaptation in Contemporary
Korean Cinema”
-Hyangsoon Yi, Professor of Comparative Literature
(University of Georgia) “Korean Art Cinema: Yesterday
and Today”
-Peter Y. Paik, Professor of Comparative Literature
(UW-Milwaukee), Moderator

7:00-9:00pm
Screening of the award-winning film, "My Heart"
("Jeong", 111 min, Korean w/ English subtitles, 2000),
will be followed by a Q&A session with Director Bae.

The Korean Film Weekend also includes screenings of
"The Stray Bullet" (1961) and "The Day a Pig Fell into

University of Chicago East Asianists' Dialogues with
Director Bae Chang-Ho
