A tired additional observation, I know, but the DPRK uses yet another
protocol as well, in Romanizing/romanizing.  If there had been even some
minimal effort toward establishing what could be called a Korean Corean
Unified Romanization System, the outcome might have been more compelling in
a political sense -- which is not trivial, in this matter-- than what we
are now confronted with.  There will be a time not too far in the future
when the system will not matter at all anyway, since the medium will be
electronic rather than print based.  Not just library records, but street
signs as well will be interactive.
