Colleagues in Korean Christianity: The University of California, Riverside,
has announced a new position in Global Christianity with a preference for
someone in Asia or Latin America, which could certainly fit someone whose
specialty is Korean Christianity.  UC Riverside has been dramatically
upgrading its campus in recent years and the department is a good one.

Assistant Professor Opening, Global Christianities

 

 

THE APPOINTMENT

 

The Department of Religious Studies invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor position in Global Christianities.   Strong preference
for the history and impact of Christianity in Asia or Latin America.
Specific foci might be Protestant and Catholic Christianities in relation to
indigenous religions, colonialism, globalization, migration, social,
cultural, and political life.   Demonstrated competence in theoretical and
comparative issues in the academic study of religions is expected, as well
as the ability to relate research and teaching expertise to other fields in
the humanities and social sciences.  Candidates must possess a strong
commitment to teaching excellence and a high research potential.  PhD
required at time of appointment.  Salary commensurate with education and
experience.

 

THE UNIVERSITY

 

UC Riverside is a vibrant, expanding, demographically diverse campus of the
University of California, located in a rapidly growing region known as the
"Inland Empire" (50 miles east of Los Angeles; 50 miles west of Palm
Springs), within an hour's drive of deserts, mountains, and beaches.  Campus
enrollments, now 17,000, are increasing, affording the University new
opportunities for growth.

 

THE DEPARTMENT

 

The Religious Studies Department offers an undergraduate major and minor and
prepares to receive its first cohort of M.A. and PhD students in Fall 2006. 

 

APPLICATION

 

Submit letter of application that includes statement on teaching and
research, CV, three to five letters of reference [to be sent separately by
their authors], and a sampling of teaching evaluations to Professor Andrew
Jacobs, Chair of the Search Committee, c/o Diane Shaw, MSO, Department of
Religious Studies, UC Riverside, Riverside, CA 92521.  Review of completed
applications will begin on November 1, 2005 and continue until the position
is filled.  Appointment to begin July 1, 2006.
