The 43rd Yonsei-KF Korean Studies Forum, 

 

The Korean Studies Program and the Instittue of Modern Korean Studies at the 
Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University are pleased to 
invite you to attend the 43rd Yonsei-KF Korean Studies Forum, which will be held 
on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 6:00 pm at Room 702 of New Millennium Hall. 
The speaker is David Jee-Yoon Kim, Ph.D. candiate in anthropology at 
Columbia University. His talk :Forunetelling: The Construction and Consumption 
of Fate" will examine the consumptio and construction of fate as a 
commodity within the context of market capitalism and its proliferation in South 
Korea. His paper will also examine the production of fortune telling as a 
staged event, which can open up possibilities beyond a discourse about its 
authenticity or accuracy. 

 

The presention will be followed by a dinner reception. I hope
