I would strongly recommend the TV drama Dae Jung Gum:

Another TV drama in the same mode is Ho Jun, another historical medical 
TV biographical drama, which appeared a few years before the Dae Jung 
Gum, and featured many of the same actors and actresses - who were 
absolutely superb!  Wish I could afford the English subtitles DVD.
