The Academy of Korean Studies(AKS), founded by the Korean Government in 1978, is an academic and educational institution for the study of Korean humanities and social sciences. As a part of our ongoing effort to promote Korean Studies overseas, AKS is pleased to release the following news and cordially ask you to forward it to interested scholars/students in Korean Studies. The 14th Cultural Program for Foreign Students and Scholars in Korean Studies 




- Period : July 3 – July 28, 2006 

- Courses : special lectures on Korea, intensive readings and discussions in Korean, field trips, excursions, and traditional cultural activities. 

- Financial Support : all expenses are fully covered by the Academy. Participants are only responsible for their travel expenses. 

- Qualifications 

 A. Undergraduate students of second year or above and/or graduate students in Korean studies 

 B. Professional researchers and/or university lecturers in Korean Studies

2006 Graduate Application for Admission 

The Graduate School of Korean Studies offers admissions for a graduate program and other non-degree programs in the humanities and social sciences. We warmly welcome motivated and prospective students from all over the world. 




- Departments & Program : History, Philosophy & Ethics, Language, Literature & Arts, Religion & Culture, Political Science & Economics, Sociology & Education, Program of International Korean Studies(Newly established to promote Korean Studies abroad and conducted in English) 

- Tuition & Fees : Foreign students are exempted from admission fee and tuition fees. 

- Benefits : Monthly stipend for students maintaining excellent academic records 

- Deadline of application : April 30, 2006 (For the semester beginning in September, 2006) 

- Notification of acceptance : In the beginning of June, 2006
