  Invitation
The last century was a century of crises to the Korean people. Annexation of the country (1910), national division (1945) and war (1950) followed by the financial crisis testify to such crises. Amid such crises the Korean people demonstrated that they had an outstanding ability to manage crises. The independence struggle based on the unyielding national spirit under the Japanese colonial rule and the economic development achieved on the strength of diligence and on the initiative spirit after the war struck the whole world with admiration.. Notwithstanding the foregoing, it seemed like Korea was panic-stricken during the financial crisis of 1997 in all fields. With the economic foundation shaken, serious structural, value-wise and mental impacts are being inflicted on political, social and cultural areas. Next year will mark the tenth anniversary of the financial crisis of 1997. Accordingly Korean Association for Political and Diplomatic History and SeoulASEM Institute
for International Relations intend to analyze the present address of Korea in the process of globalization and look out on the tomorrow of this country in four rounds after exchanges of in-depth opinions with the specialists from home and abroad.
