Support for AKSE members to take part in the 2008 Annual Meeting of the

Thanks to the Korea Foundation, the Association for Korean Studies in
Europe is able to give financial support to two of its members who will
present a paper at the 2008 Annual Meeting of the Association for Asian
Studies (AAS). The Meeting is to be held in Atlanta, April 3-6, 2008.
If you want to avail yourself of this opportunity, you should first of
all send a paper proposal to the AAS before the deadline of August 17,
2007. It is possible to present an individual paper but the AAS has a
preference for papers that are part of a panel. For more information
about the procedures please consult the AAS website:

There you also will find suggestions for finding other scholars to
organize a panel with.

If your proposal is accepted and you want to apply for financial
support, you should send your proposal together with evidence of its
acceptance to the President of AKSE, Boudewijn Walraven
(B.C.A.Walraven at let.leidenuniv.nl
<mailto:B.C.A.Walraven at let.leidenuniv.nl> ; postal address: Centre for
Korean Studies, PO Box 9515, 2300 RA Leiden, The Netherlands). Please
also include an estimate of your expenses (economy class airfare and
hotel) and indicate whether you have previously attended an AAS
Conference. The deadline for the application for financial support is
September 1, 2007.

If there are more than two candidates the AKSE Council will make the
final selection. Preference will be given to scholars who have not
attended an AAS Annual Meeting before.
