The Korea Literature Translation Institute is holding this week the '2008 Seoul Young Writers' Festival' with 20 young writers, each from a different country, and a similar number of young Korean writers. A similar event was held in 2006. The aim is double, to open Korean writers to what is being written around the world, and to enable young writers from overseas to experience Korea, of which they would otherwise mostly know little. During the festival, there will be a series of joint readings which are open to the public and some members of this list residing in Seoul might like to attend them. Everything happens in the area close to Hongik University. The detailed program is at
http://www.sywf.org/
(there are no readings on Thursday-Friday, when the writers are away from Seoul, but there are 4 sets of readings on Saturday May 24).
