The Strategic Initiative for Korean Studies would like to re-announce Grant for Curriculum and Teaching Materials for Global Korean Studies. 
 
If you are interest in our grant and meet the criteria, please consider proposal guidelines and submit a project proposal to the SIKS in Academy of Korean Studies (Website - http://siks.aks.ac.kr).

Curriculum and Teaching Materials 
for Global Korean Studies
(Non-Korean Institutions or Researchers Affiliated with a Non-Korean Institution)
 
 
▶        Project Objective
The project, initiated by the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS), aims to develop and implement diversified and creative Korean studies curricula, courses and materials for teaching and learning in the tertiary institutions overseas. It seeks primarily to support projects that may create original and innovative educational materials and curriculum in response to the local demands of specific countries or regions overseas. Academic institutions or teams of researchers are eligible to apply for grant to develop “Curriculum and Teaching Materials for Korean Studies” for a maximum period of 3 years.
  
▶    Scope of Project
1.    Total Budget: 210 million Korean Won
2.    Period of Support: 3 years 
3.    Area and Budget distribution: 
○ North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand: 0-2 projects
○ Other areas: 1-4 projects
* North America, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand - About 150 million Korean Won per project;
* Other areas -  About 6 million Korean Won per project)

▶  Eligibility 
○ A research institution engaged in Korean Studies
○ Teams/groups of researchers
○ A consortium involving collaboration between departments/research centers of Korean studies in Korea and overseas. 
※ We encourage a consortium in which Korean and foreign scholars will work collaboratively to develop and the curricula and teaching materials and utilize them.
 
▶ Qualifications
○ Applicants have to have published at least one book, book-chapter or an article in an academic journal on some aspect of Korean studies. 
   * Foreign scholars with outstanding scholarly achievements can participate as joint researcher without having produced publications on Korean Studies. In such a case, the researcher is to submit a written explanation for the necessity of her or his participation.

1.        Application Period
Online application: August 3 - August 10, 2009
Document Submission: Only those documents postmarked no later than August 10 will be accepted. (Documents should be sent via international express mail)
