20th Japanese/Korean Linguistics Conference 1-3 October 2010

The 20th JK linguistics conference will be held in Oxford in October
2010, co-organzed by the Research Centre for Japanese Language and
Linguistics, University of Oxford, and the Department of Linguistics at
the SOAS, London. This will be the second time this conference will take
place outside the US and its first time in Europe.

The annual JK conferences are the only long-running general conference
on Japanese and Korean linguistics and attract the highest calibre of
academic research in all areas of linguistics relevant to one or both
languages. Its prominence and dual focus gives specialists a chance to
meet, present, discuss and learn across disciplinary boundaries.
Proceedings are published by CSLI Publications and represent an
important outlet for cutting-edge research in Japanese and Korean
linguistics. The conference will have presentations on the phonology,
morphology, syntax, semantics, historical linguistics, discourse
analysis, prosody, and psycholinguistics of both languages.

We welcome abstract submissions for 20-minute presentations (followed by
10 minutes for discussion) on any subfield of Japanese or Korean
linguistics. Abstracts should be in pdf form, a maximum of two pages in
a font no smaller than 11pt. Abstracts will only be considered if they
are submitted through EasyAbs: http://linguistlist.org/confcustom/jk20.
The deadline for abstract submission is 10 May 2010.

The three keynote speakers for JK20 will be:
    * Professor Taro Kageyama (Director, the National Institute for
Japanese Language and Linguistics, Tokyo)
    * Professor Young-Key Kim-Renaud (Chair, Department of East Asian
Languages and Literatures, George Washington University)
    * Professor Beth Levin (Department of Linguistics, Stanford
University)

Due to a generous grant from the British Academy, we are able to offer
bursaries to four graduate students from European universities to attend
the conference, covering their transportation and accommodation.

Details about how to apply, as well as about the conference, abstract
submission, registration etc. may be found on the conference website:
