The Korean Studies Institute at the University of Southern California Postdoctoral fellows, 2011-2012

Funded by an institutional grant from the Academy of Korean Studies, the Korean Studies Institute at the University of Southern California is accepting applications for its 2011-2012 postdoctoral fellows program. Up to 2 postdoctoral fellowships will be offered. The postdoctoral program is open to all fields, although preference will be given to those applicants whose research complements one or more existing KSI faculty foci. In addition to a salary and benefits, the KSI will provide each fellow with research and office space at the KSI and a small research budget. The fellows are expected to participate in Institute programs and support the activities of the KSI. The Fellow must have a Ph.D. in hand, and should be within 5 years of receiving the Ph.D., by the beginning of the appointment.

Founded in 1995, the Korean Studies Institute aims to become a leading center for research and teaching in Korean studies. The Institute is involved in numerous scholarly activities that span both the humanities and the social sciences, and the Korean Heritage Library at USC is widely considered one of the best Korean academic collections in North America.

To apply, please send a letter of application, c.v., thesis abstract, two letters of recommendation (to be sent directly by the referees), and a writing sample to Elaine Kim, Associate Director, USC-Korean Studies Institute, (elaineek at college.usc.edu). The deadline for the receipt of all materials is February 1, 2011. It is strongly encouraged that applicants apply by email, although we will accept hardcopy applications, as well.

Information about Institute programs can be found at our website, http://college.usc.edu/ksi/. USC strongly values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity in employment. Women and men, and members of all racial and ethnic groups, are encouraged to apply.
