Position Summary:*  The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill,
Department of Asian Studies, invites applications for a tenure-track
position in Korean Language and Culture at the rank of Assistant Professor
to begin July 1, 2010. The Department seeks a dynamic scholar and
experienced teacher who will actively contribute to the intellectual mission
of a research institution. UNC-CH is an equal opportunity/affirmative action

conducted at the AAS annual meeting in Philadelphia. The search will remain
open until the position is filled.     *Education Requirements:*
 PhD in hand or near completion by the time of appointment and demonstrated
potential for innovative scholarship are required.     *Qualifications and
Experience:*
 Candidates must demonstrate both experience and interest in language
teaching in a university setting and in assuming a leadership role in the
continued development of the Department's program in Korean Language and
Culture. They should also be prepared to teach courses in advanced level
Korean language and Korean Studies. Preference may be given to an applicant
who is strong in second language acquisition and curriculum development,
with experience in building up a language program. Native or near-native
fluency in Korean and English is also required.     *Special Instructions:*
