*Assistant Professor in Korean Studies:*

The University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and its Office
of International Programs invite applications for the position of
tenure-track assistant professor in Korean studies. Appointment will be
within one of the following units: Department of Anthropology, Communication
Studies, History, or the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. The
successful applicant will also hold a 0% appointment in International
Programs, which carries expectations of (a) listing International Programs
as an affiliation on the CV and on publications; (b) ensuring that at least
1 course per year is international enough in scope to be appropriate for
International Studies BA students; (c) involvement as appropriate in
International Programs (including the Center for Asian Pacific Studies)
programming. Review processes, teaching assignments, and primary
responsibility for mentorship will reside within the department of
appointment.

Education Requirement:  Must have completed all requirements for Ph.D. at
the time of the appointment.

Required Qualifications:

   - Be able to teach basic/required courses in department of appointment
   - Have primary research/teaching experience in Korean culture and/or
   institutions that complement existing strengths within the department or
   college.
   - Demonstrate a level of Korean Fluency appropriate for his/her research
   and teaching.
   - Demonstrate evidence of potential for excellence in teaching and
   research.



Desired Qualifications:

   - Professional experience in discipline is desired.
