Here is Professor Whitfield's translation of the poem by Zhuxi, with the
characters in the first line in the correct order. Because he is not a
member of the group he could not post it himself.

朱熹《秋声》

 少年易老学难成，
一寸光阴不可轻。
 未觉池塘春草梦，
阶前梧叶已秋声。

Zhu Xi "Sounds of Autumn"

>From youth to age is easy, but learning is hard,
Not one moment of time can be taken lightly.
Before you can catch the dream of spring grasses by the pool,
Already there are sounds of autumn in the leaves below the steps.
