Dear list members,

I would like to inform you that the Contemporary History Society (Hyeondaesahakhoe) will hold a symposium on "Overcoming Ideological Bias in the Contemporary Korean History". The debate will concentrate on the post-1980 Korean history, with a special emphasis on not only the objectivity of historical research but also on the popularization of history in the Korean society.
The symposium will be held at the Seoul National University of Education on Friday, 20th, at 1:30 p.m.
There is an article in "DongA", presenting more details on the contents: http://news.donga.com/3/all/20110512/37151776/1
All presentations will be in Korean, however, I'm sure there are many Korean-speaking foreign scholars who can share their opinions and experience and therefore add a lot to the discussion.

Regards,
