May I bring to your attention the availability of a PhD Studentship in the School Language, Literature and International Studies. Project Title Korea: security and development
 
Applications are 
invited for a full-time PhD (via MPhil) studentship in the School of 
Language, Literature and International Studies. The studentship is 
tenable for up to 3 years [subject to satisfactory progress] and will 
cover the cost of tuition fees at UK/EU rates.  International applicants
 may apply but will be expected to pay the difference between the UK/EU 
and International Fee Rate.  The successful applicant will start on 1 
October 2014. 
 
As a minimum requirement, applicants should have or expect to receive a Masters Degree in a relevant subject. 
 
Project Title Korea: security and development
 
Project Description
 
The doctoral work 
will relate to any area of study of the domestic or foreign politics of 
North Korea and/or the international relations of Korea (North and/ or 
South) and will be carried out under the supervision of Professor Hazel 
Smith, Director of the newly created International Institute of Korean Studies UCLan (IKSU) at UCLAN. (See http://www.uclan.ac.uk/research/explore/groups/iksu.php).
 We are particularly interested in proposals that situate the research 
in the interrelated empirical and theoretical dynamic of security and 
development. The doctoral student will have international opportunities 
as IKSU is actively engaged in global research and policy networks. 
 
Applicants must
 s_ubmit a detailed research proposal, a cv, a covering letter and 
evidence of rigorous academic training, through having obtained a good 
Masters degree.
