Dear Su-kyoung:
As you know there was some sort of 'rotation' of the names for what was
basically the same literature journal. It seems to have been published
under the name _Munhak yesul_ between spring 1948 and summer 1953,
before and after as _Chosŏn muhak_ (as still today). The 1954-57
volumes you mention are a South Korean reprint edition -- is that
really the North Korean magazine then, or a South Korean one with the
same name, given that the name had already changed to _Chosŏn muhak_?
Anyway, in years up to the Cultural Revolution (and in some cases also
again after it was over), the Koreans in China issued parallel editions
of some North Korean novels as well as arts and literature magazines,
and this is one of them. (I looked into that very issue 30 years ago.)
My best guess would be that South Korean references for editions from
1948 to 1953 might be based on original Yŏnbyŏn editions or reprints of
these, as those are easily accessible.

I may misinterpret the bibliographic record, but I think the issues of
_Munhak yesul_ are here included under the later _Chosŏn muhak_ title
and its current ISSN #17279437. So, trying to locate _Chosŏn muhak_ for
THOSE years, I would google (or look in WorldCat) for "ISSN 17279437"
and then see if any collection, like the one at the 국회도서관, has any
numbers listed for these years (which would then be _Munhak yesul_ and
not _Chosŏn muhak_). Again, I may be wrong here, but this is my
understanding.
Best,
Frank
