*The 6th Conference on Korean Screen Culture*Asien-Afrika- Institut (AAI)

Universität Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany

*June 16-17, 2017*



Following successful conferences on Korean Screen Culture held at SOAS, the
University of London (2012 & 2013), Sheffield Hallam University (2014), the
University of Copenhagen (2015), and King’s College (2016), the
Asien-Afrika-Institut at Universität Hamburg is pleased to host the 6th
Korean Screen Culture Conference in collaboration with the Korea Foundation
and the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hamburg.



We welcome *Professor Hye Seung Chung* (Colorado State University) as
keynote speaker.



The conference aims to critically engage with some of the most important
issues that have affected contemporary Korean screen culture; particularly
cinema, television, web comics and music videos. We welcome proposals for
papers and panels on all aspects of Korean screen culture, South and North
Korean cinema past and present, video games, production, distribution &
reception of film, television, K-pop music videos, also the transnational
and intermedial aesthetics of Korean screen culture such as the impacts of
the Korean Wave (Hallyu), transnational and intermedial adaptations,
co-productions, collaborations, and various intermedia practices.


*Papers on other forms of Korean screen culture will also be considered*.


In your proposals (for individual papers as well as panel proposals) please
include your name, institutional affiliation, the title of the paper, an
abstract of 300 words, and a 50-100 word biography of the author.  Please
send your proposal as a doc file, NO PDFs. Please send proposals by Sunday,
the *5th of February 2017 *to Dr. des. Barbara Wall at

Submit WORD file with the abstract and the biography as follows:

All applicants will receive email confirmation of the receipt of their
abstract *within* 10 days of submission. Successful applicants will be
notified by the end of February and will be required to send the complete
paper of 5,500 - 6,000 words by *April 30th, 2017*.


Selected papers presented at the conference will be given an opportunity to
be published in *The Journal of Japanese and Korean Cinema*. http://www.
