Library’s Charles W. Wason Collection on East Asia

September 27-28, 2018

Cornell University Library and Ohio University Libraries are pleased to
announce that they will jointly organize *the **7th International
Conference of the World Confederation of Institutes and Libraries for

centennial jubilee of Cornell University Library’s Charles W. Wason
Collection on East Asia. The Institute of Overseas Chinese at Hua Qiao

*Conference Theme*

The conference theme will be *Transnational Migration from the Global
Perspective*. During the past two decades, scholars and librarians around
the world have greatly increased their interest in the study of
transnational migration and related archival materials. Many migrants
maintain various ties to their homelands while they are incorporated into
their adopted countries. The study of transnational migration has emerged
as an inherently interdisciplinary field across borders, even as the
political and cultural salience of nation-state boundaries remains strong.
Therefore, the 7th WCILCOS conference will expand its scope from overseas
Chinese issues to a wide range of topics concerning transnational
migration. Scholars
and librarians are inseparable partners in academic pursuit. This
conference will bring them together to examine critical issues related to
transnational migration, to exchange ideas and experiences, to understand
and analyze each other’s challenges, and to share common concerns. This
event will also honor the 100th anniversary of the Charles W. Wason
Collection on East Asia at Cornell University Library. An exhibition on the
history of the Charles W. Wason Collection will be held at Cornell
University Library.
