Symposium on Korean Studies, 2020. I attach the invitation of the event

13th Kyujanggak International Symposium on Korean Studies, 2020
Call for Papers

Since 2008, the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies has held its annual
Korean Studies Symposium. With only two concurrent sessions spread over two
days, this event is a unique mid-sized, themed conference. This small-scale
allows for both in-depth discussions of specialized topics and exchanges
with specialists in many other areas of Korean studies.

For the 13th annual meeting (Nov. 6-7, 2020), we plan to host four to five
sessions as well as keynote speeches. We invite panel proposals and/or
individual papers in any field of Korean studies. We are particularly
interested in innovative and cross-disciplinary proposals that seek to
discuss key issues in the field, including the current state of the field
and future prospects for Korean studies.

Preference will be given to research that is not yet contracted for
publication; papers can then be considered for publication in any of the
journals published by Kyujanggak, i.e., Seoul Journal of Korean Studies,
Hanguk Munhwa, and Kyujanggak. We also plan to publish edited volumes based
on selected conference papers.

For submission, please use online application form on the ICKS website
(icks.snu.ac.kr). The submission is due on May 17, 2020. In case of panel
proposals, please submit a proposal (300-word abstract in Microsoft Word)
and the information about the composition of the panel (the names & contact
information of 4-5 presenters, the titles of all presentations, the CV's of
all presenters, and the names & contact information of 2 discussants). In
case of individual papers, please submit an abstract (300-word abstract in
Microsoft Word) and the presenter's CV. The selection process will conclude
by the first week of June, and notifications will be sent before the third
week of June. The conference will take place on Nov. 6-7, 2020 (Fri.-Sat.)
at the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies. Travel grants will be
offered for participants from Europe, North America, and Oceania up to 1,000
USD; for those from Asia up to 500 USD. More travel grants can be offered
for participants from South America and Africa. Three nights of
accommodation as well as meals will be offered during the conference period.
