Birds, Climate Change and North Korea - Virtual Talk on 28 May at the Green Climate Fund

No country is spared from the impact of Climate Change. This includes both countries on the Korean Peninsula, South Korea and North Korea. Therefore, it is important that no country is ignored and that governments, institutions and citizens jointly work together to face the challenge and to mitigate and adapt to Climate Change.

Hanns Seidel Foundation Korea is based in South Korea and implements projects also in North Korea. And so do many of its project partners. This includes the East – Asian Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP), an organization dedicated to conserve migratory birds on their journey along the East Asian - Australasian Flyway from Alaska and Russia, via China, North Korea and South Korea to places as far as Australia and New Zealand. Therefore, also for the conservation of migratory birds global efforts are urgently required.

HSF Korea and EAAFP were invited by the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the world’s largest dedicated fund helping developing countries reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and enhance their ability to respond to climate change, to present at the monthly IEU Virtual Talk.

The topic of the event is Climate change and biodiversity-related action in DPR Korea: Challenges and opportunity”.

Doug Watkins, Chief Executive of EAAFP and Dr. Bernhard Seliger, Resident Representative of HSF Korea will be the speakers.

The GCF IEU Virtual Talk will take place on Thursday, May 28 at 4pm (KST). You can join the talk about birds, climate change and North Korea by registering here: ieu.greenclimate.fund/ieu-lunch-talks
