About the Speaker: D. from the Department of Korean History at Korea
University on the topic of “Development of Policy on the Issuance of
Joseon's Industrial Bond and Colonial Infrastructure During the Period of
japanese Colonial Rule”. In my dissertation, I analyzed the aspects of
infrastructure development through the issuance of industrial bonds, which
are modern financial investments, and attempted to determine the nature of
Joseon's colonial development during the Japanese colonial period from an
economic perspective. Future research is planned with interest in
comparisons of the character of colonial development by imperialist state,
the process of determining colonial fiscal policy, and the conflicts of
local communities over development.
