THE KOREA SOCIETY is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) organization with
individual and corporate members that is dedicated solely to the promotion
of greater awareness, understanding, and cooperation between the people of
the United States and Korea.

*Position Description:*

The Policy Program Officer works primarily with the Director of Policy,
supporting all aspects of coordinating and developing policy programs of
the Korea Society; the Program Officer also supports work in other
activities of the Society on an as-needed basis.

*Principal Responsibilities:*

*Policy Programming:*:

   - * Assist Director of Policy in the development, coordination and
   implementation of policy programs and signature events
   Plan and conduct promotions for policy programs across platforms
   including: eblasts, social media, and personal reachout. Conduct audience
   outreach to drive in-person and digital audiences. Coordinate with
   Associate Director of Communications on promotions.
   * Coordinate arrangements for private and public events and meetings,
   including developing guest lists, drafting and distributing invitations,
   arranging meeting room and refreshments as needed, collecting/tracking
   RSVPs, staffing events, and handling necessary follow-up
   * Assist with on-site program management including reception and
   registration, event A/V tasks, setup and breakdown. Ensure a seamless,
   educational, and positive experience for guests and speakers. Coordinate
   with policy interns, IT Director, communications, education, and any other
   in-house teams to plan and carry out all aspects of the program, including:
   technical, content, and hosting functions.
   * Coordinate with the Creative Director to create policy program web
   pages, complete with RSVP links, program text, a billboard image, and
   speaker bios/headshots. Maintain/improve policy section of the website and
   create issue-specific pages to engage core audiences and address key themes.
   * Coordinate program administrative logistics including travel and hotel
   accommodations:public and private programs including the National Outreach
   program, annual signature policy event, Kim Koo Professional Series,
   private roundtables, and visits by ROK government officials
   * Oversee audio and video content for policy programs. Assist live
   webcast and video release programs by managing audience questions and
   supporting the Director of Policy during the editing process and live
   programs.
   * Coordinate with Associate Director of Communications on content for
   Twitter and other social media.
   * Perform evaluations of programs and track program performance and
   audience engagement using quantitative and qualitative metrics.

*Supporting external relationships and building audiences and networks:*

   - * Build, maintain, and grow our pre-existing network of NYC-area
   policy professionals through networking and reachout. Communicate and
   develop external relationships with policy institutions, think tanks,
   program partners, sponsors, donors, speakers, and Society members.
   * Plan with the Education Department to build on our pre-existing
   network of affiliations with Universities and student groups. Recruit
   students as audiences and provide educational programming to small groups.
   * Support the Director of Policy in recruiting fellows for the Kim-Koo
   Professional Series and help organize executive roundtable seminars
   * Recruit and manage policy interns by conducting weekly meetings,
   training, task coordination, and performing oversight of on-site program
   support.

*Other Responsibilities:*

   - * Assist Director of Policy in researching potential speakers,
   moderators and funding sources and partnering with other organizations to
   organize regular programs
   * Assist the Director of Policy during the grant processes and annual
   reporting: Prepare annual policy summaries for grant reporting purposes,
   including the Annual Report, the Korea Foundation Proposal and Report, and
   the Kim Koo Professional Series Report
   * Draft speeches and opening remarks for the President, Director of
   Policy and Moderators
   * Consult with the Director of Policy on the strategic direction of all
   policy programming:
   * Update and maintain the Society’s database of contacts including
   audience/attendance data into the Salesforce Other duties as assigned

*Requirements:*

   - * Bachelor’s Degree required / Master’s Degree a plus
   * 1-3 years of relevant experience
   * Strong organizational skills, particularly with regard to event
   planning, promotions, invitations, hosting, and post-program analysis.
   * Academic background in international relations, political science,
   Korean studies/Asian studies preferred. Strong understanding of Korean
   Peninsula political, economic, and security dynamics.
   * Familiarity with US and Korea-based experts on US-Korea Alliance and
   Korean Peninsula topics. Preferred: pre-existing relationships built within
   this network.
   * Strong communication skills, both written and verbal as well as strong
   interpersonal skills. Ability to seek out and maintain relationships with
   experts and professionals working on this topic area.
   * Proficient in using social media tools such as Facebook, Instagram,
   and Twitter. Previous experience in communications, outreach and media
   relations a plus
   * Korean language skills a plus
   * Self-motivated and detail-oriented
   * Ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as
   collaborate as part of a team
   * Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks, prioritize and meet tight
   deadlines
   * Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM application preferred
   * Position requires occasional nights for events
   * The position is based in NY and must be eligible to work in the US

*Compensation:*

   - * $50K - $55K
