Dear Korea Studies Listserv members,

I hope this message finds you all well!

I am seeking your help on where to find the archives of late Joseon 내시
(eunuchs). I am a historian whose research focuses on Chinese eunuchs and
am currently working on a comparative study of Chinese and Korean eunuchs.
For this trip, I am particularly interested in learning more about the
abolition of the Korean eunuch system during the late Joseon/ protectorate
period.

I am hoping listserv members might be able to direct me to the archives
where the information I seek might be stored. This will be my first
research trip to Korea and my Korean is still at a beginner's level. I
haven't had much luck in my searches online. In particular, I am looking
for the archives of the Department/Office of Eunuchs and or any discourse
that might have been recorded about the abolition of the system by either
by the imperial court or Japanese officials.

Any help would be appreciated about the archives or good places to stay for
10 day research trip.
Please feel free to write to me directly at mdale3 at usfca.edu

Thanks in advance for your help!

Best Wishes,
Melissa Dale
