Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the publication of *Korea Journal*’s Spring 2026
issue.
Among the ten research articles in the Spring issue, several examine
transnational aspects of modern Korean history, including:
- why, during the suppression of the Boxer Movement, the *Hwangseong sinmun*
went so far as to denounce Western armies as ‘cannibalistic beasts’
(January, 1901);
- how disputes surrounding the Amnokgang Forestry Company became Imperial
Japan’s pretext for the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905);
- how and why North Korean women—figures like Yi Sinja—were depicted in
early 1960s Chinese media as ideal socialist role models;
- and affective ‘mobility’ among young Japanese women and the Korean Wave.
All articles are published under a CC-BY-ND license and are freely
available to read, download, and share, with proper attribution to the
authors and Korea Journal. Access the full issue at www.aks.ac.kr/kj
