CALL FOR PAPERS : "Walking as Object-Method: Extending the Mobilities Turn through Korea"

We are a group of scholars working on walking and related topics in Korean contexts (e.g. cultural geography of the DMZ Peace Trail, geography of mountain hiking, mobile method in digital nomad research, YouTube walking video of Seoul, and the history of walking as political action).

We are looking for 1-2 additional contributors to join us for either or both of the following:

1. AKSE 2027 Conference Panel
Association for Korean Studies in Europe (AKSE)
Date: 24-27 June 2027
Venue: University of Bucharest, Romania

2. Special Issue in Mobilities Journal (Taylor & Francis)
We have submitted a special issue proposal to the Mobilities journal and are currently in dialogue with the editorial team.

Our group has previously presented together as a panel at two conferences (a Korean studies conference and a mobilities conference) under the theme of "Walking as Object-Method."

We welcome contributions from scholars whose work engages with walking and/or mobility studies in Korean contexts.

If you are interested in joining us for either or both, please send a short abstract and a brief bio to Daeun (daeun_lee at u.nus.edu) and Valerie (gelezeau at ehess.fr) by 4 September 2026.
