Dear members:

I would like to inform you of a Korean art panel in Los Angeles on
Friday, February 12, 1999 at 5:30-8:00 p.m. in Room 304, West Hall, Los
Angeles Convention Center as a part of the annual convention of the
College Art Association of America, a convention of the most professional
international artist and art history organization.
Entrance fee is $25.00 for adult and $15.00 for students.
Although the fee is high, I hope many of you in Los Angeles attend
to support the Korean art in the United States (as this is the first
of hopefully many to come), and let the people and students know about this.
The theme is "Korea and Neighbors," emphasizing Korean art in Asian
art context. There are 4 topics chosen this year.
The topics are
1. The Art of the Three Kingdoms Period and the Reconstruction of
the Iconography of the Tenjukoku Shucho Mandara, by Dr. Maria del
Rosario Pradel, USC.
2. "Korean Sources of the Todaiji Monuments and Other Buddhist Art of
Japan," by Dr. Junghee Lee, Portland State University.
3. Medieval Buddhist Art: Sung or Koryo?" by Dr. Youngsook Pak,
SOAS, University of London.
4. "The Ten Kings at the Seikado Library: An Iconographic and
Stylistic Study of an Untapped Treasure," by Ms. Cheeyun Lilian Kwon,
Princeton University.
5. Discussant: Dr. Kumja Kim, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco.
If you have any question, please contact me.

Thank you.

Sincerely yours,

Junghee Lee
