[KS] request for information on Japanese Maple

I know the subject seems misleading but I have a question on a book
that I own about Korea. This book is written in the third person singular
but is claimed to be an autobiography of a man that was in Korea from about
1900 until 1905 working with the Italian government. I have read the book
and found that many of the events in the book did in fact take place and
were mainly personal events that really haven't warranted much attention
from historians....these being the petty arguments between the diplomats,
missionaries and their families. What is interesting about it is that many
of the names have been changed (maybe to protect the feelings of those
involved).
I have been unable to find a record of Count Daniel Percorini being
in Korea, and he claims that he was aboard a merchant ship off the coast of
Ullong-do during the Russo-Japanese naval battle there.
I guess what I am trying to ask is if this book is fiction based on
fact, non-fiction but with the names changed to protect those involved, or a
little of both. Has anyone read this book?
Sorry to have bothered the group with this problem. Thanks
Robert

Japanese Maple, By Count Daniel Percorini 1935 (Italian translated into
English)
Geoffrey Bles, London, England This book is written in the third person
singular but is claimed to be an autobiography of a man that was in Korea
at the time working with the Italian government.
