The Intercultural Institute of California (IIC) in San Francisco, California
is hosting its annual Minsok Form on May 13, 2005. The event consists of an
academic forum and a cultural event, usually in the form of a musical
performance. The theme for this year's forum is "Korean Confucianism: Past,
Present, and Future."
Experts in Korean Confucianism as well as scholars from a variety of fields
(History, Literature, Women's Studies, Ethnomusicology, etc.) who are
knowledgeable about Korean Confucianism are welcome to contribute. Scholars
are invited to submit abstracts for papers that would fit with the theme of
the event. Papers may explore the historical beginnings and developments of
Korean Confucianism, as well as its place in contemporary society. Abstracts
should be at least 250 and no more than 500 words. Please send abstracts
through email to: hfinchum at iic.edu by Monday, February 28. Abstracts will be
reviewed and panelists will be selected by March 4, 2005.
IIC will pay travel expenses for panelists who must travel far to participate
in the event.
