The 52nd Yonsei-KF Korean Studies Forum,

The Korean Studies Program and the Institute of Modern Korean Studies
at the Graduate School of International Studies, Yonsei University are
pleased to invite you to attend the 52nd Yonsei-KF Korean Studies Forum,
which will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005 at 6:00 pm at Room
702 of New Millennium Hall. The speaker is Dr. Beatrix Mecsi, a
Researcher in the Institute of Art History at the University of Budapest.
Her talk "Why is Bodhidharma Crossing the Sea in Korea? : Reconsidering
Text-Image Relationships for Understanding Religious Iconograph" will
examine how the long-held views of identifying its object as Bodhidharma
can be contrasted with a more critical observation in the context of other
images and related textual sources by taking Kim Hongdo's (1745- after
1814) famous painting of a crossing figure (Kansong Art Museum, Seoul) as
      a good example.

The presention will be followed by a dinner reception. I
hope many will come to enjoy the presentation, the discussion, and the
      reception.Contact Young-Goo Kang at 010-2385-8664 for further
      inquiries.
