Call for Participants - Korean Studies Graduate

Dear Graduate Students,

You may already know quite well the nature and value
of the forthcoming highly renowned Asia-Pacific Week
2006, hosted by the Australian National University at
the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies
(RSPAS). I am hereby pleased to invite you to express
your interest in participating in this event at the
ANU. The dates for 2006 are 28 January - 2 February.
More details of the event will be advertised in the
next fortnight on the internet
(http://rspas.anu.edu.au/asiapacificweek/ ) as well as
in the media.

The closing date for your expression of interest in
presenting a paper is 10 October. Please note that
those who are interested in presenting a paper should
send me the title of their paper, a brief extract, and
their field of study or research affiliation.
Applicants selected to present papers will be provided
with a subsidy (to be advised) for travel costs, as
well as with accommodation.

We would particularly encourage those graduate
students who have just finished their MA, and are now
considering to continue their PhD studies, to take
this rare opportunity not only to present a paper and
engage in academic discussion, but also to see the
academic environment of the Research School of Pacific
and Asian Studies, which has more than 100 prominent
academics/researchers engaged in Asian Studies fields,
as well as to explore both the Australian National
Library, which has the largest collection of Asian
Studies materials in Australia, and ANU's Menzies

In 2005, in the largest gathering of its type, more
than 100 academics and 218 researchers from 16
countries met from 31 January to 4 February 2005 for
Asia-Pacific Week activities. The week featured an
extensive program of collaborative events, intensive
workshops, seminars and lectures for new regional
researchers from Australia, Asia and the Pacific,
Europe, Africa and North America.

I look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at
Asia-Pacific Week 2006.
