ICKS, Kyujanggak

From July 4 to July 16, 2011, the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies will host its 5th
Summer Workshop for graduate students. This is a wonderful opportunity for graduate
students and junior scholars to gain exposure to diverse disciplines and scholars of Korean Studies and to network with future colleagues in the field.

The workshop will focus on research methodologies and issues in Korean Studies through the examination of documentary and digital resources. The two-week comprehensive program consists of lectures and seminar discussions on subjects such as art, classical and contemporary literature, pre-modern and modern history, architecture, and religion. 
All lectures and seminars will be conducted in Korean, and reading material and handouts as well will be mostly in Korean. Participants will also have the chance to present their research plans or preliminary findings at an informal presentation session. Also, they will  be able to consult with the lecturers on their research. Several short field trips and visits will also be organized.
