There are several other sources in English.

Don Clark's edited volume: The Kwangju Uprising has several good articles in it.

Both the Ambassador at the time, Bill Gleysteen, and the 4-star UN commander, John Wickham, wrote books on the subject.

Gleysteen -- Massive Entanglement, Marginal Influence: Carter and Korea in Crisis<http://www.amazon.com/Massive-Entanglement-Marginal-Influence-Carter/dp/0815731698/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1322115995&sr=8-1> by William Gleysteen

Wickham -- Korea on the Brink : From the "12/12 Incident" to the Kwangju Uprising, 1979-1980<http://www.amazon.com/Korea-Brink-Incident-Uprising-1979-1980/dp/016061225X/ref=sr_1_44?ie=UTF8&qid=1322116096&sr=8-44> by John A. Wickham

Hello.

I have a student doing a research on the U.S. involvement in the Gwangju Uprising. Other than Linda Lewis' book, I am not familiar with any other sources. Could anyone recommend where to find the discussions of American role in Gwangju? Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Young Eun Chae
