Dear List Members,

Please distribute the following announcement to your students and colleagues.
Thank you!

From July 1 to July 13, 2013, the Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies will hold its seventh Summer Workshop for graduate students in Korean Studies. This is a wonderful opportunity for graduate students and junior scholars to gain exposure to diverse disciplines of Korean Studies, benefit from the guidance of senior scholars, and network with future colleagues.

The workshop will focus on research methodologies in Korean Studies through the examination of primary and secondary sources. The two-week comprehensive program will consist of morning seminars on a wide range of topics, including art, architecture, sociology, anthropology, religion, and modern and pre-modern history. The seminars will focus mainly on current research trends, methodology, and problematic issues. Afternoon seminars will mainly consist of exercises in reading primary source material.

All lectures will be conducted in Korean, and reading material and handouts will also be mostly in Korean. Participants will also have the chance to present their initial research findings or discuss their research agenda in informal discussion sessions.

The registration fee for the workshop is USD 500 (this includes attendance fees, lunch, and some dinners); a limited number of fee-waiver and travel grants are available.
