*Job Ad: Visiting Assistant Professor of Korean Studies*

Oberlin College invites application for a full-time non-continuing 
faculty position in Korean Studies. Appointment to this position will be 
for a term of one year beginning first semester of academic year 
2014-2015 and will carry the rank of Visiting Instructor or Visiting 
Assistant Professor.

Applicants may be specialists of any of the following areas of Korean 
Studies: sociology, film studies, history, literature, politics, and 
economics, but should be willing to teach broadly from ancient times to 
the present and be able to develop an appropriate set of courses at the 
introductory, intermediate and advanced levels. The incumbent will teach 
a total of five courses in Korean Studies, including 1) two introductory 
courses in Korean society, history, and culture: 2) a thematic approach 
to the society and cultures of Korea, and 3) two advanced courses 
introducing research methodologies and theory in the discipline of the 
incumbent and in Korean and East Asian regional studies.

Among the qualifications required for appointment is the PhD degree in 
hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2014-15. Candidates 
must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate 
teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
