I am pleased to share with you the program of the ninth Kyujanggak Symposium on Korean Studies.

It will take place next Thursday and Friday (August 18-19), and the topic this time is "Power and Dissent:

Understanding Korea's Past and Present Challenges through Korean Studies." Five panels and two keynote addresses

will look at the themes of power and dissent through history, with presentations ranging from dissenting narratives in Choson literature

to protests against the Sewol disaster and forms of dissent exercised by North Korean defectors.
