*CALL FOR APPLICATIONS*

Deadline: *February 9, 2018*

The University of Michigan Nam Center for Korean Studies is accepting
applications for its inaugural manuscript workshop. The manuscript
workshop, to be held on *May 12, 2018* (Sat), will offer two junior faculty
members, preparing a book-length manuscript or other similarly substantial
academic publications, with an opportunity to further develop their
manuscripts for publication.

At the workshop, the participants will receive critical feedback on their
manuscript from up to two senior faculty mentors, and the participants will
be asked to nominate the senior faculty mentors as part of the application.
Each manuscript will be circulated in advance and discussed in turn.

The Nam Center seeks to develop a network of scholars in Korean studies,
and the workshop participants will be asked to serve as a discussant for
one paper session of the 2018 International Conference of NextGen Korean
Studies Scholars (NEKST)
which will take place concurrent to the workshop on *May 11-12, 2018*.

Round-trip economy fare to DTW, and local expenses (ground transportation,
lodging, and meals) will be provided for each participant. This workshop is
made possible with the generous support of the Academy of Korean Studies.

*Eligibility and Application*

All junior tenure-track faculty at any US or Canadian institution from all
fields in the social sciences and humanities, whose research is related to
Korea, are encouraged to apply. Two applicants will be selected to
participate. Special consideration will be given to applicants whose
manuscript is nearing completion and/or applicants from institutions in the
Midwest and the Big Ten Academic Alliance.

Applicants will need to submit the following materials:
