Applications are invited from outstanding candidates for the following positions as part of the European Research Council funded project, Aftermath of the East Asian War of 1592-1598:


1. POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN 17TH AND/OR 18TH CENTURY EAST ASIAN HISTORY (CHINA).
2. POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER IN 17TH AND/OR 18TH CENTURY EAST ASIAN HISTORY (KOREA). 
3. PHD BURSARY IN 17TH-19TH CENTURY JAPANESE HISTORY.
4. PHD BURSARY IN 17TH-19TH CENTURY KOREAN HISTORY.

Aftermath is a five year project run by Prof. Rebekah Clements (ICREA https://www.icrea.cat/ , Autonomous University of Barcelona https://www.uab.cat/web/universitat-autonoma-de-barcelona-1345467954774.html ). The project is a large-scale attempt to understand the environmental, demographic, and technological legacy of the East Asian War of 1592-1598, also known as the Imjin War and Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Invasions of Korea. 

The successful candidates will undertake their research as part of a team of international researchers in the context of an innovative project within the prestigious European Research Council https://erc.europa.eu/  framework. They will be provided with a working space at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in a shared office with other members of the group, and will be expected to be regularly present in the office to collaborate with other members of the team. There will be generous funding for fieldwork, the purchase of books, and conference travel.
