School GRK 2833 „East Asian Futures“ (EAF), Ruhr University Bochum and 
University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany
funded by the German Research Foundation (GRF)*

Since 2023, the East Asian Studies institutes at Ruhr University Bochum 
and University Duisburg-Essen, both located in the Ruhr region in 
Germany,  are conducting a joint Graduate School (in GRF diction: 
Research Training Group) on the topic of East Asian visions of the 
future, past and present. We now call for applications for 
following*four-year positions* and fellowships for *doctoral researchers*:
- Seven GRF-funded positions (0.75 FTE)
- Six affiliated fellowships with funding opportunities for field 
research in East Asia and conference attendances
The deadline for applications is 31 January 2025. Positions will start 
on 1 October 2025.
