**Kyujanggak fellowship announcement**
The Kyujanggak Institute for Korean Studies would like to invite applications for its 2011 fellowships. The fellowships provide Korean Studies researchers with the opportunity to use the Kyujanggak collection as well as other resources at Seoul National University to carry out their research projects or prepare a manuscript for publication. Three kinds of fellowships are available: the junior fellowship for PhD students (three months), the fellowship A for Korean Studies faculty, and the fellowship B for recent PhD graduates without a full-time position (six or ten months).
Benefits vary according to the fellowship: fellowships A & B include a stipend, housing, airfare, and research assistance; the junior fellowship consists of a KRW 3,000,000 grant and research assistance. For more details, including information regarding other programs such as the Kyujanggak Archives Travel Grant, please go to our website: http://plaza6.snu.ac.kr/~icks/ENG/index.php.
Applications should include a cover letter, five-page research proposal (two page PhD summary for junior fellowships), application form (available online), full CV, two writing samples (one for junior fellowships), and two letters of recommendation (for junior fellowships, one should be by the academic supervisor and one by an SNU faculty member). Fellows are expected to be in residence for the full term of their fellowship, contribute to the academic activities at Kyujanggak, and submit their work to be considered for publication in the Seoul Journal of Korean Studies (articles) or the Seoul-California Series in Korean Studies (monographs).
For fellowships starting in January 2011 or after, the application deadline is June 30, 2010. Applications can be sent either online to icks at snu.ac.kr by the due date, or sent via mail to the address below postmarked no later than the due date. Please do not hesitate to contact us for further information.
