Dear Agnieszka,

What you are looking for comes out of Myeong-sim-bo-gam (명심보감 明心寶鑑) in the chapter titled Gwon-hak-pyon (권학편 勸學篇).  The complete text is as follows:



⊙少年易老하고 學難成하니 一寸光陰이라도 不可輕이라 未覺池塘에 春 


草夢하여 階前梧葉이 已秋聲이라 

(소년이로하고 학난성하니 일촌광음이라도 불가경이라 미각지당에 춘초 

몽하여 계전오엽이 이추성이라) 

소년은 늙기 쉽고 학문은 이루기 어려우니 한 치의 시간이라도 가볍게 

여기지 말라. 연못의 봄 풀은 꿈에서 깨어나지 않았는데 섬돌 앞의 오동 

잎이 이미 가을 소리니라. 

少年易老 : 소년은 늙기 쉽고 


學難成 : 배움은 이루기 어려움 


一寸光陰 : 짧은 시간 


不可輕 : 가벼이 해서는 안됨 


未覺 : 깨닫지 못함 


池塘 : 연못 


已秋聲 : 이미 가을소리를 냄 





覺깨달을각 池못지 塘못당 夢꿈몽 階섬돌계 


葉잎엽 : 草(풀초)뜻+世(세상세)+木=葉 


塘못당 : 土 + 唐(당나라당) = 塘 (형성문자) 


輕 가벼울 경 : 車(뜻)+ (음)= 輕 (형성문자) 수레에 싣고 가니 가볍다

There may exist some good English renditions already and you may be able to find it.  In the meantime, the 한글 (Modern Korean) translation seems fairly straightforward.

  I kindly request information on where I can find an English translation/publication of the following poem:


  未覺池塘 春草夢 ㅣ 연못가에 봄 풀이 채 꿈도 깨기전에

  階前梧葉 已秋聲  ㅣ 계단 앞 오동나무잎이 가을을 알린다

  The translation will be roughly as follows: 

  Spring grass at the pond before I wake up from my dream/
  In front of the stairs paulownia leaves are announcing autumn.

  It is a fragment of a poem by a Chinese poet from the Song dynasty period, popular among the Koreans, too. In Korean the title is "Sonyeoniro Hannanseong".
  I would be very thankful if some hanja experts kindly corrected my translation.
